Mustangs finish CC season at Regionals

On Saturday, October 22, the DGS girls cross country team competed in the IHSA Hinsdale Central Regional meet at KLM Park in Hinsdale. The top 6 teams qualified for the Sectional meet, including meet champion Naperville North. Unfortunately, the Mustangs finished the meet in 9th place and did not advance. Nora Joy (Sr) and Sophie Ring (Jr) led DGS with thier 37th and 38th place finishes. They were followed into the chute by Skyler Tomecki (Sr) in 48th, Lindsay Spear (Sr) in 52nd, Claire Posmer (Fr) in 56th, Mar Duran (So) in 58th, and Jacie Selig (Fr) in 63rd. This season was marked by some unfortunate injuries to several of the team’s top runners. Despite that, the athletes that finished the season ran hard, performed admireably throughout, and represented DGS well. With 4 of these 7 girls returning as well as getting back several of the injured group, we look forward to an even better season next fall. The 2023 season will officially conclude with the team Awards Night on Wed, Nov.2nd at 7:00p in the DGS Main Stage auditorium.
