Nike Cross Region Midwest Race
NOVEMBER 15-16, 2025 – Terre Haute, IN
What is NXR? When the regular high school cross country season ends, Nike holds 8 regional cross country events around the U.S. (NXR). Downers Grove South is located in the group of states that attend the Midwest NXR regional and we will be participating again this year. All DGS cross country runners are invited to attend. There are three races: an open race, a freshman/sophomore race, and a championship race, so everyone who signs up will run in one of the three races. The race distance is 5k. We have to enter as a club, not a high school team, so we will be entered as the Downers South Distance Club. You can register your daughter via this form: NXR Registration 2025

Why? This meet gives the girls a chance to compete on an NCAA National Championship 5k Course against girls from IN, OH, IL, MI, and MO. Nike sponsors the event and makes it really special. And it is fun giving the girls a chance to become closer as a team.
Where is it? LaVern Gibson Championship XC Course in Terre Haute, IN. Terre Haute is known as Cross Country Town USA. This LaVern Gibson course hosted the 2016 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship and is widely recognized as one of the top cross-country courses in the world. They have hosted 15 national championships at this course. The course is spectator friendly so it is easy to see your daughter at multiple places on the course.
When? The race is Sunday, November 16, 2025. The team will drive down on Saturday, November 15 to give the girls a chance to preview the course in Terre Haute. The team will stay at a local hotel overnight on Saturday night and the athletes will room together.
We also have a limited block of rooms reserved for parents/families. We can only reserve rooms until October 14. (details in Next Steps below). We will return on Sunday after the races and awards in the late afternoon.
Transportation? Transportation to and from Terre Haute, IN will be provided by team parents. The team will leave DGS at approximately 9:30am on Saturday, November 15. The girls will drive straight to the XC course in Terre Haute, set up tents, and run the course before heading to the hotel. We will need parent volunteers to help drive the girls on Saturday and Sunday and to help throughout the weekend. You can volunteer to drive on the NXR Registration form.
Cost? $100 per girl participant covers a shared hotel room with complimentary hot breakfast (the girls room together, 4 girls per room), transportation, race entry fee, Saturday dinner, Sunday lunch and snacks for the girls. Sorry, we cannot issue refunds.
Please note that the girls should bring spending money for t-shirts, additional snacks, and the various Nike merchandise sold at the course.
Saturday Dinner: Everyone is welcome to join the team on Saturday for dinner. We will have a catered pasta dinner for the girls and any family members who would like to attend. Details will be shared closer to the date. The girls’ dinner is covered by the registration fee. Parents and siblings will need to pay via Venmo or Zelle. When filling out the registration form, please indicate the number of family members who would like to attend dinner (not including your runner – she is automatically included).
What if my daughter wishes to attend, but cannot drive down Saturday and/or will not stay in the hotel with the girls? If your daughter is not traveling with the team please arrange for her transportation and accommodations. In addition, please complete all forms and submit a payment of $40 so that your daughter can be registered for the race along with the team. Sorry, no refunds. If your daughter is not planning to travel with the team and plans to arrive separately, please complete the NXR Registration form, the participant waiver, and then email Lia Lamb at: lia.lamb19@gmail.com to share your plans.

Registration forms are due by Tuesday, October 14. $100.00 pays for your daughter’s race entry and hotel stay as well as dinner Saturday night, breakfast at the hotel, and lunch on Sunday at the course. (For those not traveling with the team but still racing, the fee is $40.00 and includes race entry, catered dinner Saturday night, and lunch and snacks at the course on Sunday.)

Accommodations for parents or others traveling: If you plan to attend the race, we have a limited number of hotel rooms available at the same hotel where the runners are staying. The girls room together. Parents/families can reserve their own room or can share rooms. A room block is being held at the Hampton Inn Terre Haute. Rooms (one king or two doubles) are $179.00 each plus taxes. The ONLY way to secure your room is complete the room block questions on the NXR Registration form. (You cannot call the hotel to reserve a room from our block.) A confirmation number will be generated and then you will receive an email from Lia Lamb with instructions to make a payment for your room.
RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY OCTOBER 14, 2025 or the rooms will be released and the hotel is sold out!
If you don’t plan to stay overnight, you can still drive down on the day of the race to see your daughter run. It’s approximately a 3.5 hour drive to get to the course, plus an hour time change.
About one week before the race we will send out an itinerary for the weekend, additional information, driving directions to drivers, etc.
