Record Setting Performances at Top Times meet!

The DGS girls track team had several outstanding performances including 2 new indoor school records at yesterday’s Illinois Top Times meet.  Abby Kargol started off the afternoon with a 5th place finish in the 3200m run.  Abby’s time of 11:03.72 was an improvement on her own indoor school record set only 3 weeks earlier. The Mustangs were well represented in the prelims of the sprint races with 2 girls in both the 60m hurdles and the 60m dash races.  Shaliyah Dixon-Tucker won her prelim of the 60H in 9.08 seconds to qualify for the finals. Soren Umali finished 2nd in her 60H prelim in 9.42 and just barely missed making the finals by 0.02 seconds, finishing 9th overall. Shaliyah came back minutes later in the 60m dash prelims, running 7.86 to finish 2nd in her heat and qualifying again for the finals.  Nicole Muccianti ran a very respectable 8.31 to finish 6th in her 60m dash prelim, 22nd overall.  The 4x800m relay team of Amanda Thate, Mary Beine, Jill Boyle, and Maggie Seitz finished 11th in a tough field with an overall time of 10:00.12 with several girls running season best PR’s.  Then it was Shaliyah’s turn to race the finals in both the 60H and 60m dash.  She ran very well, finishing 4th in the hurdle race dropping her time down to 8.96, and 6th in the 60m dash with an improved time of 7.79.  Michaela Hackbarth took the track next against a very accomplished field to race the 800m.  She ran a great race to finish 3rd overall and lower her own indoor school record to 2:15.50.  The 4x200m relay team of Nicole Muccianti, Soren Umali, Rachel Petro, and Shaliyah Dixon-Tucker finished 12th out of a field of 16 teams in 1:49.32.  The final race of the evening was a very exciting one as the 4x400m relay team came into the meet seeded 6th and left with the 2nd place hardware.  The quartet of Rachel Petro, Lauren Wong, Mary Beine, and Michaela Hackbarth ran 4:02.89 to finish less than 1 second behind the 1st place team. This meet concludes the indoor portion of the 2015 season and the team will compete next outdoors on Wednesday, April 8th in a quad meet at Downers Grove North HS.
