Mustangs open season at Hinsdale Central Quad!

On Saturday, Feb. 15th, the DGS girls track & field team opened the 2020 season by competing in a quad meet hosted by Hinsdale Central. Teams from Naperville North and Proviso East rounded out the field. It was a great opportunity to shake off the rust and to start getting back into racing shape.

DGS won 3 events at the varsity level, and 3 events at the frosh-soph level. Erin Reidy (Sr) took first place in the 1600m against some great competition. Erin’s winning time was 5:07.0. Kamile Dirzys (Sr) took first place in the long jump with a huge PR jump of 16′ 5″. And the varsity 4x400m relay team of Brenna Cohoon (Sr), Renee Kowalski (So), Rebecca Diddia (Jr), and Erin Reidy (Sr) also placed 1st with a solid time of 4:22.4. On the F/S level, Kayla Jordan (So), won the 300m dash in 46.7. Alex Spang (So) won the 800m run in 2:30.9, and Kristina Treibachs (Fr) won the 200m dash.

Second place finishers on the varsity level were Brenna Cohoon (Sr) in the 800m run, Ari Johnson (Sr) in the triple jump, Aamari Taylor (Jr) in the high jump, and Olivia Smith (So) in the shot put. Second place finishers on the frosh-soph level were Emma Lopez (So) in both the 55m hurdles and the pole vault, Renee Kowalski (So) in the 800m run, Kelsey Casella (So) in the 1600m run, Dana Rodden (Fr) in the high jump, and the 4x160m relay team of Milia Dismukes (So), Kayla Jordan (So), Natreya Jenkins (Fr), and Alejandra Aguilar (Fr).

All DGS individual results and relay splits can be found on the Schedule/Results page. The Mustangs compete again on Saturday, Feb. 22nd in a 5-team meet at Wheaton Warrenville South HS.
