The DGS girls track & field team dominated both levels of the WSC Gold division championship meet on Friday night. The varsity team scored 206 pts to easily outdistance 2nd place Hinsdale South (97 pts).  The frosh/soph team scored 217 pts to finish ahead of 2nd place Morton (125 pts).  The girls set 4 new school records, 3 new varsity conference records, and 3 new F/S conference records in the process.

On the varsity level, three athletes stood out for the Mustangs. Shaliyah Dixon-Tucker (Sr) led the way with 3 individual victories (100m, 200m, 100m hurdles) and one winning relay team (4x100m).  Maddie Manganiello (So) won 3 individual field events (long jump, high jump, & pole vault). Michaela Hackbarth (Sr) won 2 individual events (800m, 400m) and was on a winning relay (4x400m).  Shaliyah’s time in the 100m dash (12.08) is a new DGS school record, a new WSC Gold conference record, and the 3rd fastest time in the state so far. Her 200m time (24.94) is a new school record and ranks top 5 in the state.  Maddie’s long jump (19′ 6″) is also both a new school record and a new conference record as well as the current top jump in the state.  The 4x100m relay team of Nicole Muccianti (Jr), Soren Umali (Jr), Arianna Finley (Sr), and Shaliyah Dixon-Tucker (Sr) set both school and conference records with a top 10 state time of 48.65.

In addition to these outstanding performances, DGS had several other varsity conference champions. Becky Versaskas (Fr) won the 3200m, Katie Stapleton (Jr) won the 1600m, and the Mustangs had the winning 4x400m relay team of Lauren Wong (Sr), Sonja Renowden (Jr), Becky Versaskas (Fr), and Michaela Hackbarth (Sr).

Additional DGS varsity all-conference athletes include Sonja Renowden (Jr) in the long jump, Cheresse Gagala (Sr) and Dejah Sartin (Jr) in the triple jump, Shayln Martinek (Jr) in the discus, Trish Barcenas (Jr) in the pole vault, Melissa Weidner (Fr) in the 3200m run, Soren Umali (Jr) in the 100m hurdles, Nicole Muccianti (Jr) in the 100m & 200m dashes, Kara Petersen (Jr) in the 800m run, Lauren Wong (Sr) in the 300m hurdles, Olivia Duax (Fr) in the 1600m run, the 4x800m relay team of Jill Boyle (Sr), Lizbeth Alcantara (Sr), Maggie Seitz (Sr), and Kara Petersen (Jr), and the 4x200m relay team of Nicole Muccianti (Jr), Sonja Renowden (Jr), Cheresse Gagala (Sr), and Arianna Finley (Sr).

On the Frosh/Soph level, three winning Mustang relay teams all set new F/S conference records.  The 4x100m relay team of Trinity Thomas (So), Mia Burgonio (Fr), Asia Branch (So), and Katie Meyr (So) took 1st. The winning 4x200m relay team was made up of Izzy Taylor (S0), Mia Burgonio (Fr), Asia Branch (So), and Clarice Maes (Fr). The 4x400m relay team of Mia Burgonio (Fr), Teagan Halik (Fr), Alisha Macas (Fr), and Gillian Thomas (S0) also set a new conference record.

Individual champions on the F/S level were Alexus Allen (So) in the long jump and 200m dash, Natalie Olsen (So) in the 3200m run, Trinity Thomas (So) in the 100m dash, Gillian Thomas (So) in the 800m run, Kelley Hackbarth (So) in the 400m dash, and Alyssa Taglia (So) in the 1600m run.
