Coach E competes at World Championships!

Former DGS girls head track coach and ’07 DGS graduate, Egle Staisiunaite, is competing in the 400m hurdles in Beijing at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships this week. Coach E is representing Lithuania, just as she did at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

On Saturday, Coach E ran a personal best time of 56.17 seconds to place 4th in her preliminary heat. That top 4 finish place advanced her as one of only 24 women to tomorrow’s semi-final heats! The top 8 semi-finalists will advance to finals.

Nearly as important, her 56.17 time was below the Olympic qualifying standard of 56.20, which virtually guarantees that Coach E will be representing Lithuania again at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
